Venture Associate.

As an Associate you will primarily be involved in sourcing, executing, monitoring and supporting new and follow-on investments. The role offers a broad exposure to venture capital investing and a high-level of responsibility.

Position Summary

-Add to the Limitless Ventures view of where the world is evolving, how market dynamics are changing,and which companies will be leading those changes.

-Assist in due diligence on potential investments, working with the senior team to determine whether to invest or pass on opportunities.
-Help build the deal sourcing practice to find attractive investments.

-Represent LiVe as the first point of contact in meetings with founders and outside stakeholders in potential investments.

-Represent LiVe internally with LiVe colleagues; will work collaboratively with the other LiVe teams tosource deals, validate investment opportunities, and enhance investment outcomes.

-Position Tasks: Conducting market research – to identify new investment trends and opportunities Sourcing – including attending events and online research

-Deal screening – reviewing pitch decks, initial calls/meetings, scoring opportunities Maintaining CRM and other internal databases

-Deal execution – all aspects of due diligence including but not limited to:

   Gathering information from company Market/Industry research including competitive analysis
    Financial due diligence
    Legal due diligence
    Assisting with technical due diligence
    Customer and other reference calls, producing call summary notes
    Background checks
  
-Financial modeling including cash flow projection and valuation

-Preparing internal investment memos

-Ongoing investment monitoring and reporting

-Working on select projects with portfolio companies

-Assisting with fundraising process

-Engaging with peers at other venture capital firms and within the broader startup ecosystem

Qualifications & Requirements

1st/2nd/3rd Degree Experience with Recovery, Substance Use Disorder and Addiction. (Perk; 5+ years in AA/NA)

Self-Starter, highly motivated with a strong work ethic and track record for exceeding expectations,
demonstrated in entrepreneurial environments.

University degree in finance or business.

1-4 years of relevant experience, preferably two years in investment banking, accounting or consulting.

Venture capital or private equity experience is an asset.

Experienced in conducting research and due diligence, evaluating transaction opportunities, performing financial and valuation analysis, and producing “client ready” investment materials.

Some demonstrated interest in the technology sector.

An entrepreneurial spirit, with a high degree of autonomy, both for vetting new companies, and for building something themselves.

The above notwithstanding, a dynamic and engaged team player with strong interpersonal capabilities, who can work well with external (VCs, founders) and internal (LiVe) teams .

Strong work ethic and an ability to be a multi-faceted team player PMP's, CFA's and/or MBA's welcome, but not essential

Position Description:
Analyst/Project Manager

The Analysts will work directly with the partners to create and analyze new opportunities and existing portfolio companies. The goals is to provide financial and technical analyst services for the benefit of Limitless Ventures and the mission of Helping People Heal People. As the program grows to encompass relationships and collaborations with outside organizations and entities, the Analyst will also manage projects, alliances and deliverables as necessary. In addition, the Analyst?Project Manager will craft new projects by analyzing the market and prepare to over time, transition to an Associate Partner.

Further specifics and responsibilities include:
-Produce materials including competitive landscape or opportunity assessments, market research,product development issues, commercial strategies, funding trends and investor preparation for technologies spanning all life sciences (cultural, pharma drugs, street drugs, medical devices, biotech,cell & gene therapies, IVD/MDx, digital health, research tools, neuro-devices, electro-stimulation, etc).
-Creatively address organizational concerns by devising tools, metrics and dashboards to manage and report on projects, gauge progress, outcomes and successes.
-Utilize project management techniques, databases and communication tools to report program initiatives, progress and outcomes to leadership.
-Manage alliances, timelines and deliverables with internal & external partner organizations and institutions.
-Coordinate and provide business and technical support for other product focused investments including pre-company technology development programs, such as proof of concept centers like NIHCenters for Accelerated Innovation (NCAI) and NIHs Research Evaluation and CommercializationHubs (REACH) (see https://ncai.nhlbi.nih.gov/ncai/) or other translation product-development focusedNIH initiative, as needed. Other organisations in the private sector will include Caron, Betty-FordHazelton, ShatterProof, Facing Addiction w/ NCADD.
-Research Market Coordinate analytical efforts for American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), Centerfor Disease Control (CDC), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSA), HumanHealth Services (HHS) and more as needed.
-Participate in and work with leadership on company activities, programs, initiatives, funding opportunities or committees, as requested or necessary.
-Serve as a business resource to both the addiction recovery communities on strategic development of key programs, maintaining relationships with and representing at events, organizations and agencies that support entrepreneurial activities.
-Coordinate activities related to investor forums, conferences, and other matchmaking and networking opportunities for early-stage companies fitting one of the five major investment verticals,

-Communicate Frequently and often.
-Remain up to date on with relevant news regarding impact investing, substance abuse, recovery and related fields.

QUALIFICATIONS
-1st/2nd/3rd Degrees of Experience with Substance Use Disorder, Recovery and Addiction. (Perk: 5+ yearsin AA or NA)
-Advanced degree in engineering and/or business finance.
-2-3 yrs experience as financial/market analyst or similar analytical position.
-Previous experience in product development, business analyst or strategy roles with early stage entrepreneur activities. (Nice to have: bio, pharma or medtech companies or entrepreneurial experience as life sciences company advisor a + knowledge of product development and commercialization milestones and lifecycle.
-Experience/Familiar with market opportunity assessment, financial modeling or life sciences business consulting.
-Familiarity with business intelligence databases (Global Data, Clarivate), investment databases (Pitchbook, Crunchbase) or other financial databases (Dealogic, Capital IQ) and trendingtools (CBInsights or other).
-Ability to effectively liaise and manage projects with internal and external key stakeholders, both within investor/business and technical/scientific.
-Strong organizational, analytical, communication skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize Interest and ability working in a fast-paced environment.
-Maintain flexibility in a changing environment and communicate effectively across highly matrixed organizations.

The candidate will be responsible for investment transaction-related efforts, and sourcing/leading his/her own investments, including developing financial models, performing primary and secondary market research,meeting with entrepreneurs, and attending relevant conferences and networking events.The Principal will be expected to source a growing number of investment opportunities and formulating proactive investment theses on areas of interest. This position will provide all facets of analysis and assessment of potential venture capital investments and portfolio management activities, and the Principal should show the ability to establish "go-to" relationships with prospective company management teams when leading investment processes. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
-Develop financial models relating to VC financing transactions, restructurings, valuation analyses and liquidity events.
-Perform due diligence such as customer and management references, industry research (e.g. market sizing and mapping and competitive landscape analyses), while demonstrating the ability to form a viewpoint on investment opportunities.
-Craft investment memoranda and presentation materials for the partnership, and in a lead investor capacity, to include developing and refining presentation themes, data gathering and synthesis, and constructing professional presentation materials.

2. Bachelor's Degree in Business/Finance or Technology-related Field
3. 8 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, strategy consulting, relevant corporate development role, or some combination of the above. Or, strong entrepreneurial experience (e.g. from launching a tech start up), in conjunction with demonstrated facility in all financial aspects of transaction related work
4. Ability to analyze a wide variety of businesses in technology, software and digital media.
5. Ability to self-direct, analyze, evaluate, and form independent investment judgments.
6. Excellent organizational skills with a self-starter mentality and also a strong attention to detail.
7. Strong written and verbal communication capabilities
8. Strong financial modelling capabilities / Professional Excel and PowerPoint experience
